Visa Responsibilities

Obtaining a valid visa to enter the U.S. and maintaining valid immigration status while in the U.S. is the responsibility of the foreign national. Employment at the University of Michigan is contingent upon your securing valid immigration status and work authorization before your expected start date and maintaining your valid immigration status and work authorization throughout your employment. Similarly, continued enrollment at the University of Michigan requires that you secure a valid student visa and that you maintain your valid immigration status through the completion of your degree program. Failure to timely secure an appropriate visa, to enter the U.S. under the correct visa, or to maintain valid immigration status may jeopardize your continued employment or enrollment at the University.
