Ali Safawi is a junior studying Community and Global Public Health in the School of Public Health. Last summer, Ali traveled to Vietnam with CGIS's Global Intercultural Experiences for Undergraduates (GIEU) program and volunteered at an HIV/AIDS support group in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). He is also in the Peace Corps Prep program and plans on serving in the Peace Corps after graduation. On campus, Ali is involved with College Democrats, The Michigan Daily, where he is a columnist, and the Interdisciplinary Health Club which he co-founded. Ali plans on a career in global health development and programming. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Dearborn/Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
