Mikayla is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program.  As an MSW candidate, she will also be participating in the Community Based Initiative in Detroit program.  Her practice method is Community Organization and her practice area is Community and Social Systems.  

As an undergraduate student at Michigan State University, Mikayla studied interdisciplinary social sciences, French, TESOL, and earth science, and became certified to teach at the secondary level.  Mikayla has spent the past four years in education, both as a high school social studies teacher in the United States, and more recently, as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching English in South Africa.  Mikayla is passionate about getting to know and work with diverse communities, both locally and globally.
