US Citizenship Workshop - 11/3/2017

The International Center is excited to announce that we are working with the National Immigration Forum and the Michigan Immigrant Right Center on a free workshops on U.S. citizenship through the New American Workforce program.

This workshop is intended for University of Michigan employees who are Legal Permanent Residents of the U.S., i.e. hold a "green card." The workshop will address:

1. citizenship eligibility requirements;
2. benefits of citizenship; and
3. questions and concerns.

Attendees will learn how to apply for citizenship and, through grants to the National Immigration Forum and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, are eligible for free legal assistance with their potential citizenship application by experienced immigration professionals. Note that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) charges a filing fee for citizenship applications. This filing fee is generally borne by the interested employee, not their department, as it is a personal application.
