Laure Bordas-Isner the International Student and Scholar Advisor received the David D. Horner Award at the 2026 Michigan Association of International Educators (MAIE)) conference.
This award was established in 2002 to recognize an international educator who demonstrates exceptional service in mentoring for their state. Qualifications include 10+ years of experience in the field of International Education, with at least five of those years in Michigan. Service to the state includes both support of the MAIE team as well as mentoring and guidance to other professionals across Michigan.
Throughout her career, Laure has presented on various topics related to U.S. immigration and international education at regional and national conferences. She was the 2025 NAFSA Region V Chair and the NAFSA Region V 2023 Conference Planner. She was the 2025 Chair of NAFSA's Regulatory Sessions Working Group, and currently serves on the NAFSA Trainer Corps Development team, and is one of the ISSS representatives on the MAIE leadership team.
