Thanks to the generosity of donors, the International Center announces the creation of the AE Scholarship Fund for undergraduate international students.
An international student at the University of Michigan, the donor graduated in 2005 with a BBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Reflecting on his own experiences at U-M, he understands the unique challenges international students face. He and his wife are committed to easing the burden of unexpected scholarship needs. Through their gift, they hope to ensure that international students can focus on their education and graduate from U-M, regardless of unforeseen circumstances.
Eligibility
- Degree-seeking undergraduate international students at U-M Ann Arbor
- Students must be enrolled full-time in the current term.
- Hold F-1 or J-1 student visa status at the time of application
- Students must be in good immigration standing for the semester for which they are seeking funding.
High Priority/Preference
- Undergraduate students whose country of citizenship has 25 or fewer students enrolled at the time of application (see IC Statistical Report for countries that have 25 or fewer students enrolled)
Other Selection Preferences
- Undergraduate students who are approaching graduation
- Undergraduate students who have not received this scholarship in the past
- Undergraduate students without significant institutional or external funding, fellowships, governmental or other scholarships, or emergency funds)
Funding Uses
The AE Scholarship Fund for Undergraduate International Students can be used to fund expenses including but not limited to:
- Tuition and fees
- Housing
- Food
- Healthcare expenses
- And other emergency needs
Award Amount
- Individual award generally ranges from $3,000-$5,000.
Application Timeline
The AE Scholarship Fund operates on an annual cycle. The Winter 2027 application dates are as follows:
- Application opens: Monday, January 11, 2027
- Application closes: Monday, February 8, 2027
- Award notification by: Friday, April 2, 2027
Process and Disbursement
- Applicants should complete the AE Scholarship Fund for International Students Application and include the requested supporting documentation.
- A committee will review completed applications and notify awardees according to the dates in the “Application Timeline” section.
- Applicants who are not selected for an award will see the “Not Awarded” status in the application portal.
- Students granted awards must accept the scholarship by the deadline indicated in the award notification.
- If there is an outstanding balance on the student account when funding is awarded, the funding will automatically be applied to the balance first. Exceptions may be considered by the Review Committee.
- Awarded funding given to support tuition expenses will be directly applied to student account fees in Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer semesters based upon enrollment and application timeline.
Grant Taxes
