The University of Michigan International Center advises students on a wide-range of study abroad options. First and foremost, we recommend exploring University of Michigan-sponsored study abroad programs, which can be found in the M-Compass database (we recommend utilizing the “Keyword Search” functionality in order to get the most accurate search results). Study abroad is decentralized at the University of Michigan and a list of U-M education abroad offices can be found on the Global Michigan website. If you’re unable to find a program that fits your needs for any reason, the International Center is here to help you explore reputable external program options (so-called “non-UM” programs), and think through important considerations for studying abroad on a non-UM program.
Advising Services
Interested in studying, working, volunteering, or traveling abroad? We offer virtual advising by appointment during the Spring and Summer terms.
Before making an appointment with the International Center, we recommend that you first meet with your school/college’s education abroad office.
Please note that the International Center does not manage any U-M study abroad programs. We provide general education abroad advising with a focus on “non-UM” (independent) study, internship, and volunteer abroad programs, as well as post-graduate opportunities.
