Peace Corps at U-M

What is the Peace Corps? The Peace Corps brings together skilled, committed Volunteers with welcoming host communities for service opportunities in more than 60 countries. Volunteers live and work side by side with community members on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations.

The University of Michigan Peace Corps Office is conveniently located on campus to help students prepare for Peace Corps service. We routinely organize information sessions, panels with returned Peace Corps Volunteers, application workshops, and more. Check out the Events page for a complete list of upcoming activities.

Our recruiters are also available to meet with you one-on-one during regular office hours to answer questions about the application process, how to prepare yourself for Peace Corps service, and life as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Review our office hours and schedule your appointment today. To learn more about the Peace Corps, visit the Peace Corps website; or, click here to view current volunteer openings.

Advising Services

The office is closed for the Spring and Summer Terms. We will return to the office on Monday, August 25th, 2025. If you are working on applying to the Peace Corps over the summer and need any support, please reach out to the Regional Recruiter, Emily Nguyen at [email protected]

Peace Corps Prep Certificate Program

If you are an undergraduate student who is considering applying for the Peace Corps in the future, we recommend considering the Peace Corps Prep certificate program. This program will prepare you for international development fieldwork and potential Peace Corps service. To accomplish this, you’ll build four core competencies through interrelated coursework, hands-on experience, and professional development support. To find out more:
