Travel Logistics

We recommend that all U-M travelers register their travel (including personal travel!) in the University of Michigan Travel Registry. This allows the University’s International Travel Safety Team to get in touch with you, in case of an emergency situation in your travel destination (for example: a pandemic, natural disaster, terrorist attack, etc.)

We also recommend that all U-M travelers consider purchasing the U-M Travel Abroad Health Insurance. If you are traveling for U-M-related travel (UMRT), this insurance plan will be required. For non-UMRT, it is highly encouraged.

Advising Services

Interested in studying, working, volunteering, or traveling abroad? We offer virtual advising by appointment during the Spring and Summer terms.

Before making an appointment with the International Center, we recommend that you first meet with your school/college’s education abroad office

Please note that the International Center does not manage any U-M study abroad programs. We provide general education abroad advising with a focus on “non-UM” (independent) study, internship, and volunteer abroad programs, as well as post-graduate opportunities.

To schedule an appointment, please email [email protected]. So we can best prepare, please include as many details about your international travel plans as possible.

You can also contact [email protected] if you would prefer to communicate by email.
