Meet & Greet with Returned Peace Corps Volunteer: Wendy Scott Keeney (South Africa)

Join us for a casual meet and greet with recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Wendy Scott Keeney! Wendy retired from a 40 year career in Business Development and Philanthropy to join the Peace Corps in 2023. She has lived and worked internationally and is passionate about being a global citizen working on behalf of women and youth in workforce development. Wendy served in the Health Sector during her service in South Africa from 2023 to 2025. She worked at a women's shelter while recruiting and training youth to be facilitators in the Stepping Stones program.

60 Minutes Around the Globe: Azerbaijan

60 Minutes Around the Globe is a program series hosted by the International House Ann Arbor (IHAA) and the International Center where members of the international community share a brief presentation about the culture and history of their home country. The presentation is followed by a time for discussion and enjoying light refreshments. Join us on Friday, March 20 at 3:00 PM as we learn about the culture and history of Azerbaijan at the International House Ann Arbor (921 Church Street). Snacks and refreshments will be served!

StudyAbroad.com is a study abroad provider that offers no-frills programs, affordable pricing, and nontraditional destinations. 

Chloe Gordon, a University Outreach Specialist will be on campus on March 11 to give two info sessions to U-M students interested in studying abroad through StudyAbroad.com You only need to attend one of the info sessions, as the sessions at 1 PM and 2 PM will cover the same information.

Challenges in the Peace Corps: Resiliency and Overcoming Obstacles of Service

Join us for a conversation about resiliency in Peace Corps service and decorate your own, free Peace Corps tote bag! We will cover the Cycle of Vulnerability and Adjustment, go through specific challenges you can expect to encounter and when, and some strategies and techniques for managing your physical and mental wellbeing. Learn about the resources made available to you by the Peace Corps and those that you’ll need to develop on your own to build your resiliency skills and have a successful service without sacrificing your mental health.

Peace Corps Resume Workshop

Looking to submit your Peace Corps application before an upcoming application deadline? This presentation will cover both universal resume tips and those that are specific to the Peace Corps resume. Participants are encouraged to bring in a copy of their resumes, as there will be an opportunity to swap resumes with other participants to critique. Lunch will be provided.

Note: For Peace Corps Prep students, this workshop will fulfill your Peace Corps Prep resume requirement!

February International Coffee Hour

International Coffee Hour is a great opportunity to meet new people from around the world! The event is open to all members of the U-M community, including international and U.S. students, scholars, faculty, staff and their partners.

Our February International Coffee Hour will be held in partnership with the Office of Global Activities in the School of Social Work. It will feature a Valentine’s Day theme with optional Valentine’s Day craft activities.

Taste of Culture: Lunar New Year

Join the International Center to celebrate Lunar New Year! This holiday represents the beginning of the new year in the Chinese lunisolar calendar, and it is one of the most celebrated holidays for many communities around the world! This celebration also kicks off the year of the Horse in the Chinese and Vietnamese zodiacs!

Join us for this grab-and-go event, which will feature festive snacks from Lucky Kitchen and Kimchi Box! Please register to ensure we have enough food for everyone. Snacks will be available starting at 4:00pm and be given out as supplies last!

International Wellness Fair

Please join us for the International Wellness Fair on February 25 from 4:30-6:00PM! The event is in the Student Activities Building Lobby, and it is open to all students, scholars, faculty and staff.

The Wellness Fair will feature several departments and student organizations who will be tabling! Prizes, crafting and other activities will be available for attendees.

Meet & Greet with Returned Peace Corps Volunteer: Maureen Kenny (Senegal)

Join us for a casual meet and greet with recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Maureen Kenny! Maureen is a first-year Master of Public Health candidate in the Global Health Management and Policy Department at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health. She is passionate about women's health equity and is interested in pursuing a career at the intersection of public health and international development. Before studying at Michigan, she served as a Community Health Outreach Volunteer in Senegal from 2023 to 2025.
