Teaching English Abroad After Graduation (Virtual)

Teaching English abroad can be a cost-effective way to spend a year (or two!) immersing yourself in another culture after graduation. There are many ways to go about teaching English abroad, so we invite you to join us for a session that will cover topics including things to know about teaching English abroad, opportunities to do so, and how to prepare for the experience while still a student at U-M!

This event is co-sponsored by the International Center & the English Language Institute (ELI).

Orientation Encore: Meet the University Career Center

Kickstart your career journey with the University Career Center (UCC)! This session introduces you to the University Career Center’s (UCC) wide range of resources that support international students, from career coaching and resume reviews to job search tools and networking. You’ll learn how to schedule appointments, explore workshops, and leverage the community toolkit. We’ll also share strategies for finding internships and job opportunities that are friendly to international students and building your professional network.

Engineering U.S. Job Search for International Students

International students bring valuable talents to the U.S. job market, from cross-cultural insights and language skills to a global outlook that enriches any workplace. Yet, navigating the U.S. job market can be very stressful! The Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) and the International Center are co-hosting an informative workshop to help you be better equipped for the job search.

How to Talk about Immigration Status to Employer

As an international student, it is important for you to practice how to bring up your immigration status during the interviews of the recruitment process. This guide is not used for filling out your online application. We will be focusing on how to bring up your status or ways to address it with an employer during an interview. This workshop will give you the opportunity to interactively practice your script with your peers and present yourself in the workplace. This workshop is presented by the International Center and University Career Center.
