Event Details

Are you an international student preparing to work at U-M or do you receive a fellowship that covers living expenses (not just tuition)? Before you start, you'll need to complete several tax forms, such as the IRS Form W-4, State of Michigan Form W-4, the Alien Certificate, and potentially additional forms if your country has a tax treaty with the U.S.

Join this open Q&A session hosted by a representative from the U-M Payroll Office to get your questions answered about filling out required tax withholding forms. Whether you’re unsure about which forms to use, how to fill them out, or what documentation you’ll need, this session is designed to help you navigate the process confidently.

Note: For helpful background information, we recommend watching the recording of our “U.S. Tax Withholding Forms” presentation from August 2025 before the session. You can download the information packets referenced in the recording here.

Bring your questions and join us for a supportive conversation to make your transition smoother!

This session is presented by the U-M Payroll Office.
