Taste of Culture: Pączki Day at the IC

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026 many people in the state of Michigan will celebrate “Pączki Day'' (otherwise known as Fat Tuesday - the day before Ash Wednesday) by eating a jelly-filled pastry called a Pączki. Pączki (pronounced POONCH-kee) are Polish pastries that bakeries around Michigan and the Midwest will prepare one time per year in celebration of this holiday! In other parts of the United States, Fat Tuesday is recognized by the more widely known Mardi Gras festival.

ISLCs are co-sponsored by the U-M Library, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the International Center.
