January International Coffee Hour

International Coffee Hour is a great opportunity to meet new people from around the world! The event is open to all members of the U-M community, including international and U.S. students, scholars, faculty, staff and their partners.

This month, we’re partnering with the U-M Arts Initiative team, who will share ways to connect with the arts during your time at U-M. Plus, attendees will have the option to participate in a creative activity!

New Student Welcome Dinner

Welcome new international students starting your studies in January 2026! We hope you will join us at South Quad Dining Hall to mingle and meet others from across campus! Open to new students of all study levels.

Students without a meal plan: Check-in with the IC staff member outside of South Quad between 6-7pm. This will ensure you are not charged for the meal.

Students with meal plan: If you have a meal plan, no need to check in with staff - just swipe your card like usual and join us in the Transformer room!

U-M Library Basics

Gain insight into the resources and services available at the library and learn strategies for efficiently finding information for your research projects.

Join a U-M Librarian as the questions below are explored:

  • How can I access library resources remotely or in person?
  • What kind of technology help can I get at the library?
  • How can I find scholarly books and articles?
  • What are some of the research tools the library provides that may help me with my research?

Graduation Cord Pick-Up

The International Center is excited to celebrate the academic achievement of our international graduates this May with an International Student Graduation Cord! The International Student Graduation Cord is an initiative to showcase the broad impact of international students at U-M. These blue and green cords are intended to bring visibility to the significant contributions of international students both in and out of the classroom. There is no charge for the graduation cord.

Global Photo Showcase

Join various U-M International Education units at the 2025 Global Photo Showcase, featuring student photography from all over the world! Vote for your favorite photos and enter raffles to win U-M prizes. Chat with study abroad returnees, international students, and international education professionals. Enjoy food and music from around the globe and learn about upcoming international opportunities!
