Join us for a casual meet and greet with recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Amanda Guthu! Amanda is a first-year Master of Social Work student at the University of Michigan and a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Community Economic Development in rural coastal Costa Rica from 2023 to 2025. She worked alongside a local Youth Association and the community’s water supplier on community-led projects focused on youth leadership, skills development, and sustainable tourism.

Join us for a casual meet and greet with recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Hunter Casazza! Hunter is a first-year Master of Social Work candidate in the Global Practice pathway and a Paul D. Coverdell Fellow at the University of Michigan's School of Social Work. Before studying at Michigan, he received his undergraduate degree in history and education at the University of Pittsburgh. Following this, he worked as a child welfare aide and caseworker with children, youth, and families for two years. His dedication to this work ultimately led him to Peace Corps service.

Join us for a celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away.

Experience Mexican culture through traditional decorations, delicious Mexican food, and pan de muerto (a traditional sweet bread enjoyed during this holiday).

Learn about the five U.S. territories—Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa—presented by Felix Baez-Santiago, U-M doctoral student in Survey and Data Science as part of 60 Minutes Around the Globe. This program invites community members to share the culture and history of places to which they have personal connections. Following the presentation, continue the conversation, meet new people, and enjoy refreshments! Registration is required to help us provide enough food for everyone.

Join us for a casual meet and greet with recently returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Vish Juvvadi! Vish is a first-year Master of Social Work candidate in the Interpersonal Practice pathway at the University of Michigan's School of Social Work. Before studying at Michigan, he served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines supporting the mental health of at-risk children living in shelters & indigenous people's communities.

Visit the University of Michigan Museum of Art for a fun afternoon of indoor activities! Stop by the museum between 3:00 - 4:30 PM to connect with other families as you explore sculptures and build your own creations. UMMA volunteers will facilitate conversations about the art and guide you through the space.

Join us for a Noodle and Board Game night where you will get the chance to play a variety of games while you enjoy ramen noodles and meet other international students!

Sevi is a second-year Master of Social Work candidate in the Interpersonal and Global Social Work Practice pathways at the University of Michigan's School of Social Work. Before studying at Michigan, he served as a Community Health Educator Volunteer in Togo from 2024 to 2026. His Peace Corps service strengthened his passion for mental health support and cultural humility, shaping his interest in community-driven mental health programming.
