Changes to U.S. Visa Processing in Russia

On August 21, the U.S. Department of State announced changes to nonimmigrant visa processing at the US embassy and consulates in Russia.  Beginning on August 23, 2017, all processing will be suspended. On September 1, 2017, non-immigrant visa processing will resume at the US Embassy in Moscow only.

The operations in U.S. consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Vladivostok will be suspended until further notice. The Department of State’s FAQ addresses additional details.

New U-M students from Russia who have not yet received their visas or have had their nonimmigrant visa appointments cancelled should contact the International Center immediately via email at [email protected] or by calling 734-764-9310.

If you are a Russian citizen and are a continuing U-M student, a recent U-M graduate on OPT, or a U-M scholar or employee, and plan to travel abroad in order to renew your visa, please do not hesitate to contact the International Center for further assistance. We want to ensure that your travel and visa renewal plans go as smoothly as possible.
