Description: Post-Election Processing Circles are an opportunity for international students to come together to process the election. We acknowledge that international students have a unique perspective and feelings on this election. This event is a chance to be in community with each other, talk about how the election has impacted us, share the emotional weight of the election, and process the results. We know the election results may not be officially out by the time of this event.
This program is exclusively intended to provide a space to process our emotions/reactions/feelings and how they influence the way we show up each day, and the overall impact. This space is not to offer immigration advice or advice on how to deal with policy implications. Healing circles will be moderated and facilitated by the Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR).
The goal is to listen, empathize, and process as a community. This is not a space to debate, or argue about the results of the elections.
What can I expect?
Healing circles provide an opportunity for participants to share their thoughts and feelings with one another in a confidential, community centered space.
Because healing circles are intended to be a way to build a community, participants will go over a confidentiality agreement before the circle.
After registering you will be sent a google form to share if there are specific topics you would like to process in the healing circle. The facilitators will take that into account when planning the circle. For example, you may request to talk about immigration policies and the impact it has on you.
