The staff of the International Center would like to express our sympathy and concern for U-M international students, scholars, and employees from Türkiye and Syria as the suffering due to the disastrous earthquake continues. We wish you, your family, and friends all the best at this unfortunate time.
We know that members of the U-M international community may want to support efforts to assist those affected. The PBS article How to help victims of the 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria lists some organizations involved in relief efforts in both countries. The Turkish Student Association has also shared the following donation sites with us:
- Turkish Embassy: https://twitter.com/TurkishEmbassy/status/1622614360190320640?s=20&t=kBs...
- Turkish Search and Rescue Association: https://www.akut.org.tr/en/donation
- Turkish Red Crescent: https://www.kizilay.org.tr/Bagis/BagisKategorisel/9/disaster-donations

The Syrian Student Association has shared the following donation site with us:
- National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) https://naama.com/the-naama-foundation-earthquake-in-syria-relief-campaign
We would also like to remind students that Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is available to help you find support during this stressful time. Support for U-M employees is available from Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office (FASCCO) or for Michigan Medicine employees, from the Michigan Medicine Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience.
If you have been directly affected by these recent events and need assistance from the University, please contact the International Center at [email protected] or (734) 764-9310. The Dean of Students Office is also available to individually support students and help manage any disruptions to their Michigan experience.
