May 22, 2020: Governor Gretchen Whitmer extended the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Order to June 12, 2020. However, the executive order allowing gatherings of 10 people or fewer, as long as participants practice social distancing, remains in effect. Beginning on May 26, retail businesses and auto dealerships can reopen for people to visit by appointment, and beginning May 29, health care providers can offer non-essential medical and dental services. That order also lists some additional activities that are now permitted. Aside from these exceptions, the extended “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order requires people in Michigan to stay at home, and to wear face coverings when they enter enclosed public spaces.
