June 1, 2020: Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced that staying at home is no longer required in Michigan. However, people in Michigan still must wear face coverings when in enclosed public spaces, and must continue to take precautions to protect themselves and their communities against COVID-19. Any work that is capable of being performed remotely still must be performed remotely. Indoor social gatherings and events of more than 10 people are still not allowed, but groups of 100 or less will be allowed to gather outdoors so long as people maintain six feet of distance from one another. The governor’s order will also allow retailers to reopen on June 4 and restaurants to reopen on June 8, both subject to capacity limits. The order and a recent press release have more details about specifically what is and is not allowed under the current order.
