On January 20, President Biden signed an executive order that repeals the “travel bans” imposed by the previous White House administration, which targeted Muslim majority countries. The order directs the State Department to restart visa processing for citizens from the affected countries. The International Center and the University of Michigan applaud this first step towards establishing a more welcoming environment for U-M’s international community.
However, if you are planning international travel, please remember that many travel restrictions related to the ongoing pandemic are still in effect, and that effective January 26, COVID-19 tests will be required for all air travelers to the U.S.
We will continue to monitor any immigration related executive orders that may affect our international population.
