International Student

The International Center will host our annual International Student and Family Welcome Day on Monday, August 24, 2026. Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged for both undergraduate and graduate international students, along with their family members who travel with them to campus. Topics will include overviews about cultural adjustment, maintaining immigration status, using your health insurance, and more! This is also an excellent opportunity to meet other new international students!

Schedule Overview:

International Student Lunch Conversation (ISLC) is a casual time and space for international students to connect with each other and talk about life as an international student in the U.S. and at U-M.

May’s ISLC will take place at the Shapiro Library’s Shapiro Gallery (Room 3160) from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided!

Come play a pick-up soccer game with the IC! May’s game will be played at Mitchell Field.

This will be a very casual game and is meant for meeting other international students and scholars. We recommend bringing athletic clothing, cleats/gym shoes, and a water bottle.

Mitchell Field is most easily accessed via Michigan bus (several routes stop at the field building). Parking is also available.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy community, culture, and celebration all in one event. Whether you have a May birthday or enjoy meeting others in the international community, come join us for cake, coffee, and great company. Join this virtual session to learn more about off campus housing options in the Ann Arbor area. This event will be facilitated by the International Center and is designed for new international students. We will be joined by a representative from Beyond the Diag, U-M’s Off Campus Housing program within the Dean of Students Office, and a Housing Attorney from Student Legal Services. There will be time allotted to answer questions you may have!

The following are webinars designed for the specific immigration populations, academic departments, and administrative units served by the International Center. Content will be similar including: overview and updates on Executive Actions U-M’s international population; review of U-M travel and other resources; and understanding travel risks.
