Daisy Freitas

Daisy joined the International Center in February 2022. Daisy, who is originally from Kenya earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Sociology from Kenyatta University and a Master of Science in Finance from Kenya Methodist University. She has over 10 years experience in the Financial and Banking industry.

Since relocating to the US, She has worked at an ESL program at Central Academy in Ann Arbor and at Michigan Medicine in an administrative capacity.

Kelly Nelson

Kelly re-joined the International Center staff in August 2017 after having previously worked as the Education Abroad Coordinator in the International Center from 2008 to 2014. After leaving Ann Arbor in 2014, Kelly worked for the Institute of International Education (IIE) through which she worked closely with international students from Saudi Arabia studying in the United States.

David Muusz

David joined the University of Michigan in 2013 and currently serves as the Associate Director for Faculty and Staff Immigration Services at the IC. Before joining the university, David held similar roles at the University of Chicago and Virginia Tech. He’s originally from the Netherlands where he earned two degrees including one in Language and Culture Studies with a focus on American Studies. After graduate school, he taught English as a Second Language and Intercultural Communication.

Scott Manley

Scott joined the University of Michigan in 2007, and currently serves as Associate Director for International Student and Scholar Services in the International Center.  

Scott has more than 15 years of higher education experience in International Education and Student Affairs.  He is an active member and leader in NAFSA: Association of International Educators.  

Louise Baldwin

Louise has held several different positions at the International Center, and has worked at the IC for more than 25 years.  She has a master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree, also in Anthropology, from Bryn Mawr College.  

Louise spent three years as Peace Corps Volunteer in Afghanistan (Kabul and Herat).  She is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Education.

Judith Pennywell

As the Director of the International Center at the University of Michigan, Dr. Judith Pennywell oversees international student, scholar, and employee services as well as global engagement and education abroad programming. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the Marsal School of Education's Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.
