For Winter Term 2021, the Department of Homeland Security's enrollment guidance for international students will remain the same as it was for Fall Term 2020. This means that:
- Students who have been and will continue studying from within the U.S. are allowed to enroll fully online. This includes those who began their studies on campus in the Fall.
- Students whose first semester in the US will be Winter 2021 will need to enroll in at least one in-person or hybrid course. The International Center strongly recommends that this be a 3-credit hour course. Students can, if they want, download and print this letter to show to consular officers, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, or airline representatives. The letter explains U-M’s plans for the Winter 2021 semester.
If you have any questions about how this guidance might affect you, please contact the International Center
