Teaching English in Francophone Countries

Below are two excellent opportunities to teach in a Francophone country

  • Fulbright U.S. Student Program: Teaching Assistantships - UM Fulbright Office
    Fulbright English teaching assistantship opportunities available in French-speaking countries in Europe and Africa. Program descriptions vary. Students must have a Bachelor degree or be a graduating college senior. Future teachers of French preferred in some cases, but not always required. U-M students should apply through the International Institute. Non U-M and graduate students directly apply to IIE. Note: the deadline for U-M students is typically very early in September.
  • French Cultural Services – Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF)
    This program of the French Ministry of Education places Americans with some knowledge of French into English assistant posts in French schools. Job involves 12 hours of English conversation classes per week. 7 and 9 month positions available starting October 1. Must be U.S. citizens, have at least two years of higher education, and at least a basic proficiency in French. Monthly salary. No fees associated. Application deadline is in mid-January.
