International Undergraduate Student and Family Welcome Day

Description: The International Center will host our annual International Undergraduate Student and Family Welcome Day on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged for both international degree-seeking and exchange undergraduate students and their family members who travel with them to campus. 

Topics will include overviews about cultural adjustment, maintaining immigration status, using your health insurance, and more! This is also an excellent opportunity to meet other new international students!

Description: You bring your graduation cap, we'll provide the supplies! (And dessert!) 

This is a drop-in event and students can stop by whenever during the scheduled time. The IC will be providing fabric paint, jewels, ribbon and other materials that can be used to decorate the top of your graduation cap.

Making the Most Out of Your U-M Experience

Description: Interested in learning how to get involved on campus and make friends? Come to Making the Most Out of Your U-M Experience!

This virtual event will consist of a short presentation, followed by Q&A. Topics include how to join student organizations, how to find a job on campus, fun things to do in Ann Arbor, and more!

This event is being offered as part of our Winter 2023 Orientation for new international students, but all students are welcome to attend.

Description: Welcome to Michigan! The International Center is excited to welcome you all to campus by hosting a dinner at South Quad Dining Hall. This is a great opportunity to meet other international students who started their programs in the Winter 2023 semester! This is an informal gathering, so just arrive anytime between 6-8pm, grab some food in the dining hall, and join us in our designated area to eat and mingle.

Description: Need a break from studying for final exams? Join us for a winter-themed guided paint session at North Quad, Space 2435! All art supplies and canvases will be provided, and no experience is necessary. Food and beverages will be provided as well! Registration is required to attend.

Off-Campus Housing Q&A

This event will be facilitated by the International Center and is designed for new international students. We will be joined by a representative from Beyond the Diag, U-M’s Off Campus Housing program within the Dean of Students Office, and a Housing Attorney from Student Legal Services. Please bring any questions you may have!

Description: Join us as we celebrate international students and scholars with birthdays in September! We'll enjoy cake, coffee, and tea, and we encourage you to bring your friends together to celebrate your birthday! Meet us at the International House Ann Arbor (IHAA) located at 921 Church Street in Ann Arbor. Please register in advance so we can plan how much food to order.
