Description: During this event, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will serve as mentors to their optiMize undergraduate Social Innovatoin Challenge teams. Student teams will present their project ideas and mentors will provide advice, support, and feedback to teams on challenges they may face in their social impact project. RPCVs will have the opportunity to share about their service experience and do some interactive role-playing with student teams about challenges they will face when doing social engagement work in communities around the world.

Description: The International Center is hosting an open skating event at Yost Ice Arena! This event is free to students and includes your skate rental at the Arena. Join other students for this social event and test your skills on the ice!
Description: Do you feel anxious when you are speaking to native English speakers because you do not know which words or phrases are offensive or "politically incorrect"? We will cover some common "dangerous" English words or phrases. We will talk about when to use and when not to use certain words, "dangerous" pronunciation of words, common double meanings of words, as well as the meanings of some non-verbal gestures.
This workshop is cosponsored by the International Center and Munger Graduate Residences.
Description: Each culture has norms established that are usually unwritten and may be unclear to people who are new to that culture. Part of adjusting to a new country is learning about what to do and what not to do in social situations. This interactive workshop will highlight 10 common U.S. cultural norms and expected behaviors that could save you from discomfort or embarrassment later.

Exploring Spiritual Communities is a great opportunity for international students and scholars to learn about several different religious communities and to visit their places of worship.

Description: University Health Service (UHS) staff will describe campus health care services available to students and scholars, how to use services and how services relate to insurance. Students can preview information about UHS in advance by viewing this presentation.

Description: International Student Lunch Conversation (ISLC) is a casual time and space for international students to connect with each other and talk about life as an international student in the U.S. and at U-M.
February’s ISLC will take place at the Hatcher Graduate Library’s Gallery Event Space from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided!
