For either on campus or off campus housing, it is highly recommended that you research and determine housing options prior to your departure. A housing lease is a legally binding document. Be sure to read and ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities before signing.
On-Campus Housing
The University of Michigan offers a wide variety of residential halls and housing communities on campus with varying accommodations. In addition to having easy-access to the university bus system, living on campus provides for a built-in community experience with plentiful activities and resources serviced by Michigan Housing. - Northwood IV and V are townhouse-style apartments that offer a vibrant international community for students with families. Designated play areas and playgrounds can be found throughout the community. International Postdoctoral Research Fellows may apply to live in Northwood, however, housing availability is offered to students first. Please plan accordingly!

Off-Campus Housing

Before Signing a Lease:
- Review Off Campus Housing Resources
- If you have questions about a lease or would like it to be reviewed prior to signing, contact Student Legal Services (enrolled students only). If you are not enrolled for classes, you can attach your admission letter with the request for review of lease.
- Plan how you will travel to and from campus.
- Plan to purchase renter’s insurance.
