The University of Michigan (U-M) International Center is excited to virtually meet new international students who will begin their studies at U-M this semester!
The Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) is specifically designed to help new international students gain valuable information about U-M campus life, immigration, and resources.
The virtual PDO for Fall 2026 students will be held Thursday, June 18 from 9:00-11:00 EDT.
All incoming international students are encouraged to join this session. A recording will be made available following the event.

- International Student Immunization Information: Immunizations are recommended to protect your health and the health of others, and certain immunizations are required if you will be living in University of Michigan on-campus housing. We encourage you to be fully immunized. You can get immunizations at University Health Services for a fee, which may be covered by your International Health Insurance plan.
Other Pre-Departure Events
Many organizations wish to help you prepare for your upcoming educational journey. This section will be updated periodically with events sponsored by University of Michigan Alumni Clubs or recognized student organizations. Additionally, the U.S. Department of State’s Education USA advising centers offer in person or virtual pre-departure orientation events. While these are not specific to U-M, they may offer valuable insights specific to citizens and residents of that country.
